How to Capture Flash Movies

A flash movie is one that’s in a format such as FLV. These movies often stream over websites such as YouTube. If you want to use a flash movie from a website such as YouTube when you’re not online, or on a portable media player, you’ll need to “capture” the video directly from the site where it’s currently playing. This will let you download the video to your computer in a way you can save. You’ll want to visit a capture website to make this work.

  1. Visit the video where your flash video is playing such as YouTube.com. Right-click on the address at the top of the browser and select “Copy.”
  2. Step 2

Visit a website such as Freefileconvert, Convertfiles or Media-convert.com.

  3. Step 3

Click on the download from URL option.

  4. Step 4

Right-click on the text box next to the option and select “Paste.” Your flash video’s address will appear in the box.

  5. Step 5

Click on the “Output Format” drop-down menu and select “FLV.” This is the flash video option. Click on the convert button. Wait for a link to appear.

  6. Step 6

Click on the link to download your captured flash video.
